After finding a better performing house, the task was to suggest recommendation based on research evidence and try to model it.simulation was done to find out if the strategies are actually helpful in making the building more efficient for warmer climate in 2050.
Building orientation is one of the most important and basic requirements along with the shape of the building to achieve energy efficiency. According to (Aksoy & Inalli 2006) proper building orientation can help achieve 36% of savings. Orientation of ‘The Cove’ simulated are shown in figure, results in terms of EUI and peak boiler, chiller loads are shown in figure.
Albedo roof was constructed based on study done by (Gasparella et al. 2011) for efficient building and glazing system. Figure 10 shows the construction of roof with low solar absorbance and high emissivity. Solar absorbance is the reminder of total solar reflectance and light or cooling material has emissivity of 0.95.
Figure shows that there has been increase in peak boiler load from 5.5kW to 6.24kW and increase in peak chiller load from 6.3kW to 8.19kW. There is 13% increase in boiler load while the chiller load is increased by 30% before and after albedo roof. Even though research suggest that cooling roof materials help saving energy, it is evident from simulation that it only gets worse for future climate.
